I’m sure you all recognise the feeling that marks the end of a week that has been ‘all consuming’ - a sprint from start to end.
A ’furrowed eyebrow’, brain squeezing, body bulldozing challenge of a week, where you kept your head down and pushed forward against a seemingly relentless barrage of ‘stuff’
This week was one of those.
And reflecting now, the other side of it, I am taking time to recognise moments of joy and gratitude.
A huge ‘proud mum’ moment
A number of ‘proud teacher’ moments
Numerous moments of gratitude for the brilliant people I work with and who always bring laughter to each day - no matter how busy or stressful.
And recognition that life is to be cherished.
Rather than allowing my thoughts to fester on the tiredness of my mind and body or get drawn into a cycle of worry about the never ending stream of bad news stories on TV, I choose to step away from this week’s sprint and practise ‘noticing’ the good.
By not dwelling on the things I can’t change and allowing them to just ‘be’ , I can find a little calm and clarity.
And by recognising what’s good, I can build my resilience and increase my levels of happiness.
Strengthening the muscle of Mindfulness , Self-Compassion and Gratitude takes practice.
But I find it worthwhile and that it makes a difference.
So can you 💙
