Pressing Pause

Do you ever give yourself permission?


Permission to take a little time for yourself to press 'pause' when you are feeling overwhelmed or when you feel the tell-tale signs of stress beginning to creep towards you?


I gave myself permission this afternoon.

I was feeling drained. My head was pounding. I had not had enough sleep. A couple of things had happened that had tipped me into a spiral of feeling upset and frustrated.

And so I stopped.

I found a place to settle where I could feel the breeze on my skin and the sun on my face.

I closed my eyes, concentrated on my breathing and then opened up my senses to what was here - in the moment. In the here and now.

I looked at my feelings with a kindly curiosity and I gave myself permission to feel upset and frustrated without judging myself.

I was able to notice the feelings like clouds passing in a stormy sky and let them go.

And I felt better.
